Palm City, Florida, has a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century. The land that would become Palm City was initially purchased by Charles C. Chillingworth in 1910, who then promoted it as fertile and healthful land, attracting settlers from the United States, Canada, and Europe. The community began to take shape with the establishment of the Palm Villa Hotel in 1913, which served as a social and cultural hub for the area. The construction of a wooden bridge in 1919 facilitated connection with neighboring Stuart, further boosting Palm City's development. Over the years, Palm City transitioned from a primarily agricultural community to an upscale residential area, especially after the construction of the Martin Downs development in the 1980s, which included homes, golf courses, and various amenities (Harbour Ridge) (TCPalm).
